The small, steady things that keep a person rooted to a place.
I am Mei. I write from Bukit Ho Swee about the ordinary attachments — a corridor, a coffeeshop corner, a worn tile — that hold a day together. No agenda. Just notes.
This site is a homemade journal, the kind I would have kept in a drawer if paper still suited me. I walk the same Havelock routes, ride the same bus when I am lazy, and notice how the estate changes in increments — a new pot on a ledge, a shop shutter that stays down one week longer than last year. I write it down because the details slip if I do not.
You will find short essays here: kopi before the lunch rush, the climb to Pearl’s Hill, a stranger’s kindness at the wet market. One longer piece sits at the front of the journal — an evening near Chin Swee Road when sirens passed and I understood only that something serious had happened nearby, without learning what. Everything else stays gentle. That is the shape of this blog.
About Mei
I notice doorsteps, corridor plants, and the way a coffeeshop sounds before the crowd arrives. I live in Bukit Ho Swee and write slowly.
