About
I am Mei. I write from here.
My name is on the footer because this site is mine — not a company, not a publication, just one person typing after work with the fan clicking in the background. I live in Bukit Ho Swee, off Havelock Road, in a flat where the floor tile near the entrance has worn pale from years of slippers.
I started Calmroots because I wanted a place to set down what I notice: the coffeeshop before the lunch crowd, the aunties at the market comparing mangoes, the way Pearl’s Hill goes quiet at the top if you arrive early enough. I am not a journalist. I do not offer services. I am simply someone who pays attention to the small anchors that keep a neighbourhood familiar.
What you read here is first-person and dated to when I wrote it. I change my mind sometimes. I forget details. I try to be honest about both. If a post reads too neat, assume I edited the mess out — the feeling underneath is still true.
You can reach me through the contact form if something needs correcting or if you want to say hello. I read every note, though I may reply slowly on weeks when work fills the evenings.
Disclaimer
I write this blog myself. Everything here comes from my own experiences, opinions and memories at the time I wrote it. These pages are personal reflections, not professional, medical, legal, financial or fitness guidance. I describe places and everyday moments from where I stand; I do not name or speak for anyone else, and I try to write about my neighbourhood kindly and honestly. If something reads wrong, tell me and I will correct it.
